Our services include all phases of fire suppression including Engine Company, Truck Company, Rescue Company, as well as Quick Response Medical Service operations in which we assist Plum EMS. Our district covers a large array of residential homes, businesses, and farm country. Points of interest include the Oakmont Country Club, Plum Senior High School, many elementary schools, and several churches of all denominations.

We provide coverage for the Pennsylvania Turnpike from mileposts 49 to 55 between Harmarville and Monroeville. We strive to use the latest safety technology. Our protective gear is NFPA compliant for firefighting, including built-in PASS devices and Scott Air-Pak X3 Pro SCBA units. We also operate three Bullard thermal imaging cameras.

Training remains an important part of our department for safety through education. Many members have completed Firefighter 1, Firefighter 2, and Fire Officer 1 through the Office of the State Fire Commissioner. Within three years of joining, firefighters are expected to complete Essentials of Firefighting, HazMat Operations, and First Responder medical training.

From 1925 to the present day, Unity VFD has maintained a rich history of public safety service for Plum Borough and surrounding communities.
